Why Delta and Probability of Profit Are Not the Same Thing

Many options traders treat delta and probability of profit as interchangeable metrics. They are not. This confusion costs traders money.

Delta measures the rate of change in an option's price relative to a $1 move in the underlying stock. A 0.40 delta call means the option price will move approximately $0.40 for every $1 move in the stock. It is a sensitivity measure—a snapshot of how the option behaves in the immediate term.
